Chocolate Frozen Yogurt

Making delicious frozen yogurt from scratch could not be any easier to make using the Ninja™ CREAMi® and Stonyfield Organic Yogurt! Today I am sharing this amazing chocolate froyo that my daughter and husband loved! Have fun playing around with different flavors, I’ve also tested vanilla chocolate chips froyo and an amazing blueberry version I’ll be sharing soon.

Chocolate Frozen Yogurt

I partnered with Stonyfield Organic and Ninja to create this healthier frozen treat.  Since there is no heavy cream in this recipe, I used their Whole Milk Smooth & Creamy Plain Yogurt to give it more of a creamy consistency. Since I am watching my sugar intake, I used monk fruit sweetener, but you can of course use cane sugar or any sweetener you like, if you prefer.

If I tripled this recipe, do you think it would work for a Cuisinart ice cream maker? The churner type… I was so excited to see this but I don’t have a ninja creami. I’d assume I cpuld just use a hand mixer to blend all ingredients together like the normal ice cream/ frozen yogurt recipes, but wondered if Gina or anyone else had thoughts or experience in this?

  2. This is the easiest recipe! I add two tablespoons of milk when I respin and it gets so creamy, like soft serve.

  3. I’ve got my Creami on the way. Can’t wait to try it. How would I go about adding peanut butter swirls to this?

  4. This was amazing! Couldn’t even tell it was “healthier” and the chocolate felt indulgent. Please come out with more Creami recipes – vanilla would be great!

Wonder also if we could get a recipe for “cream ices'” like Ralphs ices but of course, using fruit and monk fruit sweetner???? That would be the best!!

Could I sub almond milk for the 2% milk? I just bought the Ninja Creami… so excited. On WW and both husband and I lost combined 40 lbs so looking forward to incorporating the ice cream into our recipes. Your recipes have been a hit in our home and I share them with my group as well.

We used Greek yogurt with maple syrup for the sweetener.  Even after a re-spin, the consistency was icy, flakey.  Still tasted good, but I can’t really rate the recipe since I didn’t use the same ingredients. Did anyone else have luck using Greek yogurt?

  7. Super excited for a creami recipe! Please keep them coming! I definitely get an icy/less creamy ice cream when I use low fat/non fat products. I’m going to try with a higher fat yogurts I love to eat the entire pint so I’d love to hack the system and figure out a way to have creamy and a whipped type product but with low fat/low cal ingredients!!! Thank you!!

  8. The Creami is both a blessing and a curse. I’ve made screams at least 2x week since I received it 5 months ago. It’s a dream machine! Please keep the Creami recipes coming (especially the low-no sugar/ low-dairy ones!)!!

  9. Can you make this without using an ice cream maker? Would it turn out okay if I just mixed it and put it in Tupperware?

    1. The Nonja Creami recipes always come out super hard before being put in the machine. I haven’t tried this specific recipe, but with all the many recipes that I have tried, that’s how it is. So I would say no.

  10. So if it makes a pint, but you can’t consume it all….do you put leftover back in freezer and reprocess when ready to eat, or? I can’t ever eat more than maybe 1/3 of a pint in one sitting, they usually give ne 4 servings.

    1. The instructions that come with the creami specifically state that if you refreeze to make sure that the top of your product is smoothed and not lopsided. Hope this makes sense! My daughter loves to eat like one side of the pint straight down so I always make sure to go in and redistribute everything and make it nice and smooth again. I’m not sure what would happen if you don’t, but I don’t want to find out!

  11. Yeah!!! Hope you do alot more for the Creami! Any idea on the point spread for WW? What would happen if used nonfat yogurt also if one is lactose intolerant?

    1. I used non fat plain yogurt and 2% milk since it was what I had. I’m sure it wasn’t as great of a texture as Gina’s, but I really enjoyed it and I would definitely make it that way again. I will try with full fat yogurt at some point just for fun though when I can spare the extra points 🙂

  12. Buying ingredients stat! I’ve been waiting patiently  for this! Also big bonus, low weight watchers personal points for me! Very interested to see how this turns out. Will report back!

      1. Enjoyed this treat today. Followed recipe as shown. Excellent! Tasty and light! More recipes and ideas for the Creami please! Would love to learn how to create the fruit versions as well.

  13. I am SO excited that you’re posting recipes for the Creami! It’s been my new obsession for a few months and I really look forward to trying your creations since you’re my favorite source of recipes. 🙂

    1. I think so. Reviews on amazon say some compare this method/Ninja to their Vitamix. I am going to try too, since that is a large appliance I don’t see myself using a lot. Got a blender, will try recipe. 😉

    2. I considered buying a creami but my kitchen is so small. So I put this together today and will blend tomorrow. I feel the results will be similar. I’ve done frozen banana ice cream in the vitamix and it works out well.

      1. I forgot to take a picture, but it worked pretty well. Gina’s recipe was SUPER chocolatey so I threw in some frozen cherries at the end. one thing I’d suggest is maybe doing smaller portions instead of freezing in one big brick. I used a rectangular tupperwear type of bowl. So when I tossed it in the vitamix it couldn’t reach the blade well. It was too hard to break, so I microwaved it then blended. But if you did small little chunks either in an ice tray or used a few smaller containers it may work better.
