I love making a quick and healthy smoothie when I have to bring my breakfast to go. Some other favorites are Chia Watermelon Fresca, Summer Mango Stone Fruit Smoothie and Bali Banana Date Smoothie.

Pineapples are rich in enzymes, which is great for your digestive system. It’s also an excellent source of vitamin C. I like to throw in some chia seeds, but it’s completely optional. Along with bananas, this smoothie is high in fiber, vitamins and a perfect start to your day!

  1. Such a delicious, simple smoothie! I added a scoop of my unflavored collagen peptide mix to the drink and a small amount of mango that I had on hand. I’ll be making this smoothie often. Thanks Gina!

  2. I know the word banana is in the actual recipe name but is there an alternative (nothing too crazy and hard to find), especially one that doesn’t overpower the pineapple taste?
    Thank you in advance!

  3. Hi Gina!  How long will your smoothies last in the freezer?  I want to make the night before and take to work.  Do you think that would be possible?  By the way, you’ve helped me lose 29 lbs a few years ago and have continued using your recipes to keep my weight stable!  You are incredible!!

    1. I would prepare the solid ingredients the night before in the blender, then blend with the base milk just before you need it.

  4. Made this today since its 90 degrees in the north east! It was absolutely delicious – not too sweet, great flavor.! I added half scoop of vanilla protein powder… delicious! Thank you Gina!!

I’m a little confused on the SP that were provided. It’s showing only 4 for this recipe however when I calculate it on the new WW website it’s showing 7 SP, how could there be such a huge difference?

    1. The only accurate way to determine any recipe’s SmartPoints® value is to plug the ingredients into the recipe builder on the Weight Watchers website (Click on “My Foods,” select “Recipe,” and click “Create a recipe.”) which does not count fruits and vegetables in recipes in the calculations as they are now 0 points.

The SmartPoints® calculator isn’t meant for recipes and will often give you the wrong points (usually higher) because it’s counting the fruits and vegetables. So if you see a recipe with a SmartPoints® value that’s different from what the calculator tells you, now you know why.

  6. this recipe is more than 4 smart points. I left out the coconut, but put the rest of the ingredients in the recipe builder on WW and it comes to 6 Smart points. You need to account for the fact that the fruit is blended.

  7. I'm afraid this smoothie is loaded with extremely high sugar/carb content. Not too good for those who avoid excessive carb intake like the plague. 🙁

  8. This smoothie had me at Pina Banana Colada. Will definitely be pinning this to my Vega Smoothie Pinterest Contest board under "Best Smoothies" for later. Never tried shredded coconut in a smoothie before – YUM!

  9. SO GOOD! I've made it 3 times. As long as you have bananas the other ingredients last for awhile. So easy and good!

  10. I ended up using 8 oz of Silk almond coconut blend and added a scoop of Vega Tropical Tango protein powder and it was yummy.

  11. Love your smoothies!! We poured the almond milk into ice cube trays, then added two cubes for thick, cold smoothies-yum!

  13. I can´t get almond coconut milk here – can I use plain almond milk? and if I use a frozen banana and frozen pineapple I can lose the ice? I am gonna try tomorrow and see what happens anyway – if anyone has tried it first please let me know??!!

    1. I think any milk would work. When I make smoothies, I usually use frozen fruit and have not needed to add ice. It all depends how thick you like your smoothie

  14. Oh, this looks soooo good. I just found out I am allergic to apples, bananas, pineapple, plums, lemons, and milk. All my favorite fruits. I have been eating a lot of peaches and drinking a lot of soy yogurt, coconut milk and almond milk. Also olives, lettuce, oysters, and some of the gums used to thicken foods. This is an interesting journey that I am on at 61. At least I now know why I was breaking out in hives. Have a wonderful day, Linda.

  15. I would like to have more than 2g of protein. Any suggestions for pumping that up to a good amount (12+gs) so that this could be used for a meal. 2gs is not enough for breakfast especially after exercising.

It won't add 12+, but I add a serving of oatmeal to this for breakfast. It is still delish, and brings the protein up to around 8gs.

    2. If you don't mind adding 100 calories, you can add 2 scoops of EAS Lean 15 protein powder (vanilla cream flavored). It contains 15g of protein, 5g fiber. I usually only add 1 scoop. It's delicious with smoothies.

This recipe looks great, Gina! I love piña coladas, and being on WW makes it difficult to have my recipe using Coco Lopez & Pineapple juice (I don't even care about the rum!). However, I will use Silk Almond Coconut blend WITHOUT carrageenan. I hate that Blue Diamond still uses this ingredient, regardless of which type. It's obviously unnecessary, since Silk products taste amazing. OK – rant over. Thanks again for all your hard work!!

I know this is a sponsored post but are there any recommendations if you have a severe nut (almond) allergy? Looks delish!

Try using a NUTRIBULLET. It literally pulverizes fruits and veggies in seconds. It would work really well for this smoothie. I love mine and use it every day.

  19. This just sounds perfect! I think I need to whip one up, close my eyes, and pretend I'm still on vacation!

  20. With marathon training in the Florida heat I've been craving coconut water like mad. I didn't even know they made almond coconut milk! #LifeChanger

When I saw this, I thought "Oh no you didn't!" and was super excited to see another amazing smoothie recipe! I have made piña colada granola before which worked a treat, but this would be the perfect quick fix in the morning, delicious! I wish you a fantastic day Gina 🙂 x

  22. I love pina coladas, but I've found that my food processor has a very hard time demolishing pineapple enough. I keep ending up with fiberous chunks.

Do yourself a favor and buy a Nutribullet. Best small appliance on earth. I use mine every day.
